Tips to prepare CMA essay question

 


What CMA exam contains

CMA’s both part exam has 2 essay questions and multiple choice questions. Candidates will be given 3 hours to attempt multiple choice questions section and 1 hour for essay section

If you have completed your multiple choice questions section before the 3 hour limit , candidates can use this time remaining time for essay section

Essay portion is considered a bit difficult for many of the candidates, this for just cause. As ,essay type questions consists of written , quantitative analysis, responses and scenario based questions due to this reason candidates should be well prepared in electronic spreadsheet programs and word processing.

Essay section scoring criteria

Your essay responses will be scored by experts using grade guide.More points are awarded in  grading guide like, if there are 120 possible points, but in total 100 can only be awarded. The experts main aim is to award you points not to deduct points from your essay answers

In partial answer also you will be awarded with points like if, you have to calculate 10 ratios, but you only calculate 5 ratios you will be awarded for the 5 ratios you have calculated.

 

Important Tips to prepare for essay section

It’s very important to prepare for  the essay section because it represents 25% of exam’s overall score and has main role to pass CMA exam.Following tips will prove effective in preparing essay questions

·       Practice is the main thing to do in preparing essay questions

·       Perform the calculation of what is actually asked only, if the requirement of the question is to calculate liquidity ratio only focus it, don’t calculate the other relevant ratios, only stick to main requirement

·       Before attempting the questions, write down the formula’s t be used in question or just keep them in mind it will help you to attempt the question in first try with accuracy

·       Practice the essay question samples to be versed with the format

 

Important Advice

Understand the study material you are using, you will face difficulties if you do not understand the material and just memorizing it. Because the essay section is based on the real business scenario’s.
